Front Desk/ Science Center Docent:

These Docents greet visitors and answer questions about our programs. They answer phones, and take admissions to the Children’s Interactive Science Center when the Center is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. They will also help in maintaining the Science Center during open hours.

Anywhere from 2 hr to 5 hrs, once a month to once a week.

Field Trip Docent:

Field Trip Docents will help to run large fieldtrips to the Exploration Station’s Children’s Interactive Science Center. They will lead activates, help maintain the exhibits, and encourage children to engage in the displays by showing them how the display works.

Around 2hrs. Field Trips are scheduled in a morning or afternoon timeslot on the days listed, with a maximum of two field trips in one day.

Event Booth Volunteer:

Event and festival booth Volunteers attend the Exploration Station’s booth during festivals and events. This involves passing out information about the Exploration Station, and promoting our services to community members, as well as guiding children in fun, science based, educational activities. These activities often change for each event/festival.

If you would like to help out at any of these, we would add your e-mail to our outreach list and contact you when the Exploration Station is signed up for an event/festival.

Anywhere from 2hrs to 4hrs during the event/festival time.

Exhibit Team/Research Team:

An exhibit member can come up with an idea for an exhibit, create the exhibit, or create someone else’s idea for an exhibit.  This member attends meetings about what types of exhibits we would like to add to the Children’s Interactive Science Center, how to go about funding the exhibits and so on.

Research Team members research ideas, pricing, and concepts for exhibits and works with the exhibit team.

Anywhere from 2 hr to 5 hrs, once a month to once a week.

Meeting once every few months.

Electronic Waste Volunteer:

Help to unload electronic waste at the Exploration Station. Assists in breaking down e-waste and organizing donations.

Committee Member:

Members on the program committee work together to help make both youth and adult programs happen at the Exploration Station.

Board Member:

Members of the Board work together to decide the direction of the Exploration Station and organize and seek funding for the organization.
