Each year tons of toxic materials and heavy metals end up in our landfills. The Exploration Station has developed a program in cooperation with 1-800-Got-Junk? to recycle electronic waste in an environmentally friendly manner. Each calendar quarter we provide a day for you to bring us your old computers, TV's, copiers, fax machines, printers, cell phones, etc. to our facility for recycling. PLUS, when you bring us your TV's and computer monitors, the Exploration Station receives money that we put towards our programs and operating expenses. Unfortunately, we are unable to take your old microwaves or other household appliances. Along with our recycling efforts, we also rebuild many of the computers we receive within our Computers 4 Youth program. Once rebuilt, these computers are distributed to low income families who could not otherwise afford one. Our E-Waste days are held in January, April, July, and October. Please download our Events Calendar for specific dates. Every day is "Computer Monitor Day". You are welcome to bring us your old computer monitors during our regular business hours throughout the year. We have made special arrangements to recycle these items on a daily basis. If you have other computer components, please call ahead to see if we can place them in our "Computers 4 Youth" program or you can save them for our next scheduled E-Waste day. Every Saturday is "TV Saturday". We have made arrangements to recycle televisions on every Saturday during our regular business hours. As you replace your old TV's with new flat panels, please remember to recycle them properly by bringing them to the Exploration Station on any Saturday. Exploration Station's Celebration of Earth Day a Huge Success ! Our celebration Earth Day this year on Saturday April 19th was a great success! The E-Waste program we held in conjunction with 1-800-Got-Junk? recycled over 13,400 pounds of discarded electronic waste in an environmentally friendly manner. Plus, our Computers 4 Youth program was able to salvage about 15 computers to be refurbished and distributed to low income families and non profit organizations in our local community.
