Exploration Station Goes Green for Halloween!
The Exploration Station is teaming up with Hwy 101 communications, Grade Potential and other non-profits to participate in a Halloween Costume Recycling Program. Through out the month of October the Exploration Station is collecting old children's halloween costumes to be recycled. These costumes will be drycleaned and brought back to the Estation on the 28th, where they can be rented for FREE! Not only can you rent a costume, but come early to make halloween arts and crafts with the Girl Scouts, and during the event have fun in the Jolly jump or enjoy a halloween movie!
Brainstorm Benefits Art Education!
The Exploration Station completed a street painting at the I Madonnari Festival heald in San Luis Obispo to benfit the Children's Creative Project and AIA. Street painting has been a tradition in Western European countries since the 16th century. The creations are called street paintings, not sidewalk chalk art, because when completed they can look just like paintings. This science themed street painting was completed by artist Jenna McDaniel and inspired by The Exploration Station's moto- Explore, Dream, Discover.
4th of July Fireworks Stand is a HOT Success
The Writing is on the Wall!
The mural on the east-outside wall of the Exploration Station is getting closer to completion thanks to all the hard work of our volunteers and master-muralist Deborah Harris. The mural which was designed by Matthew Hoffman, has been 2 years in the making. On Earth Day this past April 19th, much of the final detailing was completed and it's looking GREAT! Come by the Exploration Station and see for yourself....

Construction is Underway!
Building construction at the Exploration Station has begun!! As they say, "excuse our dust..." The inside of the Exploration Station is being equipped with a new Computers 4 Youth work area while the remainder will be
devoted to the new Interactive Science Center (see the Science Center section of this site for more information). This is phase 1 of a two part construction project that will dramatically increase the square footage of the facility and allow us to offer more programs and services to our local community.
Exploration Station's Celebration of Earth Day a Huge Success!
Our celebration Earth Day this year on Saturday, April 19th was a great success! The E-Waste program we held in conjunction with 1-800-Got-Junk? recycled over 13,400 pounds of discarded electronic waste in an environmentally friendly manner.
Plus, our Computers 4 Youth program was able to salvage about 15 computers to be refurbished and distributed to low income families and non profit organizations in our local community.
In total, about 7 tons of electronic waste materials were recycled that may have otherwise ended up in our landfills.
